Dan Roche is an award-winning sports anchor and reporter working for WBZ since joining the station in September of 1999, he also works for myTV38 (WSBK-TV). Before coming to WBZ-TV, he worked for sister station WBZ Newsradio as a radio sports talk show host, anchor, reporter, and Boston Bruins game host at 1030AM.

Roche started his career at Curt Gowdy Broadcasting WCCM/WCGY radio in Lawrence, Massachusetts. Apart from WBZ Radio, Roche has also worked at WHDH and WRKO Radio in Boston. There, he worked as the host of Boston Red Sox pre-game and post-game programming.

For twenty years, Roche has been a leader in Boston sports coverage. For all that time, he has covered several of Boston’s most historic moments. In fact, his personal list of memorable events that he has covered includes is long, for instance, the Pats’ perfect 16-0 regular-season finale in NY against the Giants in 2007, the Patriots Super Bowl in 1996, the ’04 and ’07 Red Sox World Series Championships. Actually, Roche was the only Boston reporter to gain access and ride with the team in the 2004 Duck Boat Victory Parade. Further, he covered the Celtics 17th World Championship ride through Detroit, Los Angeles, Atlanta, as well as Cleveland.

Roche on the other hand, covered the Bruins run to their 2011 Stanley Cup title. Actually, following Game 7 in Vancouver, he was on the ice interviewing front office members, players, and coaches. Also, he worked as a “pool reporter” for the Bruins Championship parade walking the whole route. Additionally,  Roche went to Albany, New York with the Boston College Hockey team and they won the NCAA Championship 01.

In addition, he has been to Cooperstown, New York, this is when Carl Yastrzemski and Carlton Fisk were enshrined into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Roche was in fact the only Boston TV reporter going to the Hall with Dennis Eckersley and Wade Boggs just before they got inducted.


When Ted Williams died, Roche led the coverage nationally. Also, in the Cryogenics case, he covered the dedication of the Pesky Pole to good friend Johnny Pesky. On the other hand, Roche covered the Congressional Steroids hearing in March 2005 besides a special ceremony featuring President George W. Bush. It is during this time that Jackie Robinson was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.

For his excellent work, Roche won a New England Emmy Award for Outstanding Sports Series for “Red Sox This Week,” this is a 30 minute Red Sox show that aired on myTV38 and WBZ-TV. Further, he was nominated two times for an Emmy Award for Best Sports Reporter in New England.
